In our stride towards internationalization, information orientation and sustainable development
Tamkang University is shaping up to become a world-class multidiscipline tertiary educational
institution. Steeped in a tradition emphatic of liberal arts the university continues to embrace the ethos
to instill and encourage holistic perspective in our students.
The learning of and cultivation in art serves not only to shape character, it also functions as an
instrument to sharpen the intellect and to ground the bedrock for knowledge building. Hence art
exhibits and events have been given considerable weight with the intent of galvanizing the school's
intellectual milieu and ingraining art as part of our campus life.
To such aim as Tamkang University marked its fiftieth year at the juncture the world ushered in the
new millennium we took a further step in the direction by setting up Carrie Chang Fine Arts Center.
In the five years since under the leadership of director Mr. Lee Chi-Mao and deputy director Chang
Ping-Huang the center has organized a much-lauded array of exhibitions that not only provide
learning opportunity, also further entrench, pervade art on our campus. The quality and influence
of these exhibitions have stood Carrie Chang Fine Arts Center out among university art centers, and
substantiated the prestige of Tamkang University.
In turn the endeavor has gained respect and support from the art community that many an artist and
collector has donated their prized pieces to our art center.

documents 180 pieces of such treasure pledged in 2003, comprising 47 western
paintings, 105 Chinese paintings and 28 calligraphies. The synergy thus engendered is tremendous,
further enriching our campus and bolstering Carrie Chang Fine Arts Center's stature as an important
art venue. On behalf of Tamkang University I take this opportunity to extend our appreciation to the
generosity of each and every artist and collector that made this possible, and hope that such worthy
cause will continue to thrive.

淡江大学は国際化、情報化、未来化の方針下において、逐次頭角を現し、世界一流の総合大学を目指
して邁進しております。長年来わたし達は終始キャンパスの人文精神の塑造を堅持、就中、人文課程の
着実化を重視することにより、学生達の全人思考を強化してまいりました。
芸術は人格教育の礎であり、芸術の涵養を通じて、学生達の専業知能を深める以外に、鋭敏な思考力
と広い視野を繰広げることであります。芸術家の展示演出相関の活動を通じて淡江人の生活が、濃厚な
芸術雰囲気の中で、芸術が一人一人の淡江人の霊魂に滲透していくことを期待している所以でございま
す。
この為、2000年の本校創立50周年を祝うのと同時に、わたし達重大な一步踏み出し：文錙芸術センター
を成立いたしました。以来5年を過ぎた、芸術センターは主任の李奇茂教授と副主任張炳煌教授の領導
のもと、一つ每のテーマ大展示を開催する度に各界の高度な肯定と賞賛を勝ち取り、単に全校教師と学
生により多くの見学学習の機会をもたらしたのみならず、芸術活動一層の深耕化、普及化を果たしまし
た。台湾各大学院校芸術センターの翹楚と称しても過言ではなく、文錙芸術センターの成就は、更に淡
江成功の別の一重要な指標ともなっておる次第でございます。
これが所以に、わたし達も数多の芸術家の最も熱烈なるご支持を蒙り、寄贈賜った出展個人の精進の傑
作は、取りも直さず鎮館の宝でもあります。「文錙芸萃II」では2003年に芸術家寄贈の180点芸術珍品を蒐
集しており、合計：西洋画47点、国画105点、書道28点ございます。このようにレベルの高い芸術品の展示
により、文錙芸術センターは真に名実共に精緻文化精粋後の芸術文化の場所と相成りましたことを、ここ
に一人一人の芸術家の厚情盛意に深甚なる感謝の意を表し、このような発展が向後も持続することを期
待いたしております。書画集上梓の際、ここに謹んで数語綴り、序文といたします。
